Announce Partnership Joint Initiative Targets Year 2000 Client/Server Solution San Diego, CA - January 28, 1998 - Relativity Technologies, Inc. and Ernst & Young LLP announced today a development partnership to build a Year 2000 solution for client/server systems based on the technology of Relativity's flagship legacy transformation product, RescueWare. Ernst & Young, a leading information technology consulting firm, has stated that it has more than a $500 million backlog of Year 2000 work. Relativity Technologies is a start-up software firm in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. "The year 2000 problem has become more apparent to our non-mainframe clients every day," said Alan Kortesoja, National Director of Year 2000 Service Delivery for Ernst & Young. "In order to address their concerns, Ernst & Young has been evaluating client/server Year 2000 solutions for the past six months. Relativity's RescueWare technology is a quantum leap in legacy transformation solutions and it is the most advanced tool in this area we have seen." Kortesoja continued, "Initially, we are working with Relativity to advance the Year 2000 component of the full RescueWare transformation solution. This technology, combined with Ernst & Young's Year 2000 expertise, has the potential to allow us to offer our clients a leading-edge client/server Year 2000 solution." Relativity's RescueWare is the industry's first software solution to integrate and automate the complete process for transforming legacy systems to modern computing platforms, such as the Internet and client/server. RescueWare provides Year 2000 analysis and remediation as part of the transformation process. Gartner Group estimates that organizations worldwide will spend $600 billion dollars repairing their systems just to handle Year 2000 processing, with no other benefits. With RescueWare, users can perform Year 2000 remediation of their systems while capturing all the information required to transform these systems to modern platforms, providing significant value beyond the year 2000. "The high maintenance cost and low flexibility of legacy systems, combined with the near term Year 2000 problem, are forcing organizations to consider platform migration," said Vivek Wadhwa, CEO of Relativity. "Ernst & Young recognized the advanced technology of RescueWare and will provide valued advice and assistance as we advance the Year 2000 component of RescueWare. We are very pleased to be working with one of the world's leading Year 2000 service providers and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Ernst & Young."
